As summer approaches we are spending more and more time in our outdoor spaces. As well as creating aesthetically pleasing areas, it’s important to be as eco-friendly as possible. Here are three ways you can do it in your garden.
Plant for the pollinators
One of the easiest ways to create an eco-friendly garden is to look after the guys that are doing the hard work. Bees are important for the environment and we can help them by making sure we have a variety of plants in the garden. Different kinds of bees have different eating habits so having a variety is key here. Native plants such as wildflowers are just what they love and are a great option. You can buy packets of different seeds, they are easy to plant and look really great as a meadow part of the garden.
Save water
Water is a valuable resource, so limit the use of sprinklers and if you do need them set them on a timer to limit their use. Try to use rainwater wherever possible, if you have drains that bring water down from the roof then you can run them into tubs. Unhappy plants need more care and therefore more water. So make sure you plant plants where they will be happiest in the garden, where they will work well.
Choose eco materials
